Why does our spine require alignment?
What is a Subluxation?
A Subluxation is a misaligned vertebrae which inhibits proper nerve flow or function. The only means our brain has to communicate to our body is through your nervous system. Our nerves and spinal cord are protected by our spine. Nerves travel from our spinal cord through openings at each vertebral level. The nerves connecting your internal organs to your spine must remain free of spinal stress, interference or blockages. When a vertebrae becomes misaligned or moves out of it's normal position, it interferes with proper nerve flow or function. This is called a Subluxation. Chiropractors are the only professionals trained to locate and correct subluxations.
Why is that so bad?
Subluxated vertebrae put pressure on nerves, blood vessels and surrounding tissue. When nerves are stressed or impinged our health suffers. Subluxations are often painless. Left untreated over a prolonged period of time, surrounding muscles, nerves and discs begin to adjust to the new shape. Additionally, our amazing bodies start to accomodate these changes by compensating in other areas. Often this leads to arthritis and degeneration of the adjoining disc and vertebrae. As time goes by, this degeneration becomes more difficult to reverse.
